Experience:
After graduating from the State University of New York, Maritime College, Mr. Fitzgerald served in the U.S. Coast Guard for five years, where he conducted casualty investigations of marine incidents, audited vessels for compliance with Federal/International regulations and instituted administrative actions involving violations of federal law. While serving in the Coast Guard Mr. Fitzgerald attended the Evening Division of New York Law School. Upon obtaining his law degree Mr. Fitzgerald spent two and a half years at a leading New York maritime law firm, before accepting a position in Washington D.C. as a Legal Advisor to the Assistant Commandant of the Coast Guard for Marine Safety, Security and Environmental Protection. Mr. Fitzgerald also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Unlimited Third Officer's License. He joined Freehill Hogan & Mahar in August, 2005.
