JONES ACT SUSPENDED IN WAKE OF HURRICANES HARVEY AND IRMA

Because of the fuel supply disruptions caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, the Jones Act, which prohibits U.S. coastwise trading by foreign flag vessels, has been suspended from September 6 to September 13 for the carriage of refined petroleum products from New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Lousiana to South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. A possible extension of the waiver of the Act will be considered on September 13. To read the Department of Energy waiver, click here.
