OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE DEFENSE

Since being designated in 1994 as lead counsel in New York on behalf of The International Group of P&I Clubs, the firm's practice in defending occupational disease claims has grown dramatically. We have successfully handled claims brought by seamen and longshoremen relating to asbestos exposure involving mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis, and other pulmonary diseases. We have also defended numerous claims involving exposure to benzene, as well as claims for hearing loss and impairment. We have litigated third party defense claims in State and Federal Courts (including one case that aired on Court T.V.), and have defended workers' compensation claims before both State Workers' Compensation Boards and the U.S. Department of Labor.

We have had considerable success identifying the manufacturers who placed the offending materials on our clients' vessels, thereby minimizing our clients' exposure.
