Experience

With years of hands-on experience in the maritime and transportation industries prior to entering the legal field, Evan brings a uniquely informed perspective to clients navigating complex domestic and international transportation matters.

Before beginning his legal career, Evan earned an unlimited tonnage Third Officer merchant mariner’s license and sailed as a merchant mariner, ultimately achieving the position of Captain. During his time sailing, he earned a Master of Towing license, and became a U.S. Coast Guard designated examiner, along with a Second Officer unlimited tonnage license. His seagoing and shoreside management experience, together with his advanced academic training in transportation and supply chain management, allow him to anticipate and address client needs across all modes of transportation.

Evan is a graduate of the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where he served as a member of the Hofstra Law Review, was elected President of the Dispute Resolution Society, and earned top finishes in national mock trial and negotiation competitions. He also serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Law, teaching alternative dispute resolution skills and coaching Hofstra’s dispute resolution competition teams.

With this combined background in law, litigation, and the business realities of the supply chain and maritime operations, Evan represents clients in a full spectrum of admiralty and transportation disputes. He is based in the firm’s New York office.
